WILL
THIS SEMINAR ALSO BENEFIT WRITERS, PRODUCERS, ACTORS, EXECUTIVES,
2ND-UNIT DIRECTORS, STUNT COORDINATORS, EDITORS, DIRECTORS OF
PHOTOGRAPHY, PRODUCTION MANAGERS, ASSISTANT DIRECTORS, AND COMPOSERS
AS WELL?
Learning
the directing process is beneficial for everyone in the industry
to expand their awareness of filmmaking and storytelling, and
how it entails all personnel and departments.
The
greatest joy for a WRITER is to learn to direct his own material...and
if you only want to write, your own work will become more focused,
fuller, and richer in expressing its story intentions if a writer
knows how directors visually translate and interpret material...this
is crucial to improving your sales success!
A
PRODUCER should experience what directing is really about to
support and facilitate the directors work process in shooting
their productions, and successfully realizing their long hoped-for
dream projects...as a united filmmaking team.
Would
an ACTOR want to work with a director who has no clue of the
acting craft?
Every actor should learn as much about the Directing Process
as possible to hone their own work in understanding how directors
work with talent, how they cast, how they guide, nurture, and
inspire the acting instrument to deliver great performances.
A
film and/or television EXECUTIVE in development and production
should be knowledgeable of the Directing Craft so they can more
wisely choose which directors are truly visually talented, right
for particular material, organized in their work process, and
fiscally responsible to provide trusted leadership for their
multi-million dollar films and television shows.
A
2ND-UNIT DIRECTOR and/or STUNT COORDINATOR would benefit in
the development of their own specialties by sharing in the Directors
Process so they can better integrate and deliver their craft
in conjunction with the directors vision...and this knowledge
is crucial for developing their own directing careers.
An
EDITOR and a DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY would greatly expand their
own creative talents by experiencing a deeper understanding
of storytelling visualization through the actual Directors
Process in supporting a director's vision and contributing fully
to realizing it.
A
PRODUCTION MANAGER and a ASSISTANT DIRECTOR would profit from
acquiring greater knowledge of the Directing Craft and the task
of translating material visually to enhance their talents and
crucial assessment skills in budgeting and scheduling, and line
producing films & TV.
A
COMPOSER would greatly benefit by learning more about the filmmaking
process he will be writing his music for...and how directors
think in telling their stories visually which the music score
will have to support and highlight. Guy spends a lot of time
talking about the music during each scene study and composers
love this seminar as Guy calls it the "magic" of music
and film.
This
seminar is crucial for anyone who wants to move forward
and realize their filmmaking dreams in whichever specialty of
the industry.
WILL
THERE BE HAND-OUTS, HOMEWORK, AND HOW WILL THE SCENE STUDIES BE
PRESENTED?
Every
scene study will begin with actual script pages distributed
as hand-outs. The scenes will be broken-down just as if you
were about to direct them. Next, the actual directors
SHOT LIST will be reviewed and discussed as the shooting plan
takes shape, and solutions to challenging directorial problems
are resolved.
The
actual dailies of each scene will then be viewed on audio-visual
screens...exactly as they actually happened. Then, the finished
scenes will be viewed...as completed with final editing choices,
sound and visual effects, CGI, and the magic of music.
This
unique "see with your own eyes" teaching technique
is what participants rave about, and what makes the Action/Cut
Seminar so impactfully useful with the comprehensive directing
knowledge it provides all its graduates.
Homework
will be handed out on Saturday night to prepare for Sundays
more intensive, in-depth scene studies.
