ACTION/CUT AWARDS/PRIZES
& JURIES
"Action/Cut:
Top 10 Shorts Festivals in the World - for filmmakers looking to showcase their talent!"
MovieMaker
Magazine
JURIES:
As
the Action/Cut Short Film Competition is industry driven and
staffed, the Jury Selection Committees are composed of working
professionals within the motion picture world including directors,
producers, writers, agents, and film executives.
The
five Judging Parameters this Competition will focus on:
-
1. Subject Originality: how original was your
story idea? What the filmmaker brings to the story makes it
original or not.
-
2. Content Realization: how well did you
realize the telling of your story? Some folks start out with a
cool idea but fail in telling it properly.
-
3. Visual Storytelling: how visual was your
storytelling, how much of the “language of filmmaking” did
you use: imaginative angles, focus-pulls, tracks, different
focal lengths, zooms, handhelds, inventive cutting techniques
etc…to tell your story visually and with style.
-
4. Production Values: how good were your
values from levels of acting ability, to crisp sound, to good
lightning,
to appropriate music, to efficient editing, to your
imaginative titles? Never settle with any low quality of your
production values.
-
5. Viewing Engagement of Work:
regardless of all the
above, how mesmerizing was your film to just watch,
how engaging is it to an audience? Is it boring or a must-see?
Just on an entertaining or interest value, is this a
film
an audience will enjoy? Does it engage?
The
film industry association at Action/Cut is what separates
this competition from all others, and why
we pride ourselves
by offering invaluable services of prizes providing Hollywood access with professional
contacts and
feedback, and to open career advisory and networking doors to the
winners.
AWARDS:
The Action/Cut "GRAND PRIZE"
Award (1)
and the
"BEST OF EACH CATEGORY"
Awards (5).
The Juries may create and add additional SPECIAL AWARDS OF
MERIT
in categories as they did for the previous Competitions including:
"Best Foreign Awards", "Special Jury Awards",
and "Most Promising Young Filmmakers 18 or under - Youth Awards."

"Of
the many film festivals I entered, the Action/Cut Film Competition
is by far the best and most exciting. It was a catalyst to launching
my film career. As part of my Grand Prize Awards, I met with
several industry professionals to discuss their film expertise
and who offered me priceless career guidance.
The over 30 prizes,
besides the cash award from Action/Cut and streaming the film
to promote my work - such as equipment rentals, production softwares,
distributor contacts, and magazine stories about my film - are
all ideal tools for a new filmmaker and moving their career
forward. Also, after winning the Grand Prize Award, I received
investor support and now I'm making my first feature. Thank
you Action/Cut...you made my dream real!"

5 MINUTES
Directed by
Robert Christian Noll

"The
Action/Cut Short Film Competition is amazing! They put together
a prize package that is unmatched by any festival or
competition
I know of. They award filmmakers with what they really want
and what they really need: networking relationships with
top industry professionals, great production
softwares, and gift certificates for many helpful filmmaking products.
Action/Cut
sets up winning filmmakers with more than just "bragging
rights" which is so often the case with typical
fests.
A win at The Action/Cut Short Film Competition offers the filmmaker
the ability to go on and make more films by giving you career-launching
tools and connections!"

"We
were grateful beyond measure to receive the Action/Cut Award

It also provides a degree of affirmation that makes us want to
continue making independent documentary films."
